I am delighted to announce that Galleywood Cricket Club is going green! When it comes to minimising Galleywood Cricket Club’s impact on the environment, reducing, and recycling our consumption is the best method. As a result, the club now operates a recycling scheme, where glass, cans, plastics, cardboard, and paper are recycled by Chelmsford City Council. Chelmsford City Council uses the latest technology to separate different materials from the recycling, such as the varieties of plastic packaging, and then send the materials to an authorised merchant to be reused or recycled into a new product. Please find more information regarding Chelmsford recycling and where our recycling will go, at: What happens to your recycling - Chelmsford City Council.
Despite the green and sustainable steps that our recycling scheme will make, it is imperative that we organise and sort our recyclables into the correct bins. Without correct sorting, Galleywood Cricket Cub will receive a fine which can become inefficient when continuously received. Therefore, a few items which can be mistakenly recycled are crisp packets (unfortunately cannot be recycled as they have foil on the inside; however, Tesco is working out ways of recycling this ‘soft’ packaging), tissues and bubble wrap. When recycling at GCC, don’t hesitate to ask anyone on where to put any waste.
As a club, GCC believes that with the impending climate crisis, it is vital that we evolve and transform our activities to become greener, smarter and more sustainable. This recycling regime is only the start of where GCC can become more resilient and sustainable, with other initiatives like rainwater harvesting and green transitions on our infrastructure being considered.
Thanks,
Josh Felton
