Another weekend of fantastic cricket weather was upon us as the 4th XI travelled all the way to Bradwell to face Tillingham’s 3rd XI. After winning the toss, Galleywood batted first.
Mower and A Cannon opened the batting to bowlers Lang and Collins who kept their line and length very accurate. Eventually Cannon fell first as he was bowled by Lang for 3. M Green then came to the crease scoring a quick 6 runs before caught at mid-wicket off the bowling of Allington. Mower then swiftly followed after being caught off the bowling of Blenman for 11. Hitchcock and Cerson then put ran well between the wickets to pick up some runs before Hitchcock was caught by Cobb for 3. Davis then joined Cerson at the crease and they continued the quick running between the wickets until Cerson chased a wide one and was caught at point for 12. Turner was in and then out for quick 3 runs caught off the bowling of B Mason. This brought P Cannon to the crease who started scoring very quickly including some nice boundaries and a big 6. Davis was unfortunately caught off the bowling of D Mason for 6. L Green then came in scoring 6 before being bowled by Dawes. Coyle then joined Cannon and they finished the innings together with Galleywood 107-8 after 40 overs. Coyle finished 5 not out and P Cannon top scored with 26 not out. B Mason was the pick of the Tillingham bowlers with 2-12 from his 5 overs.
Bailey and Dawes came out to open the batting for Tillingham and managed to score quickly despite some good bowling from Turner and Coyle. L Green then came on and immediately made an impact picking up 2 wickets in 2 balls in his second over thanks to some sharp catches close in by Cerson. Butterwick then joined Dawes at the crease as Tillingham continued to score quickly. As Tillingham closed in on their target of 108, Coyle managed to pick up the wicket of Butterwick thanks to a nice catch from Davis. Unfortunately Tillingham managed to make it home to their target at 108-3 in the 19th over. Dawes top scored for Tillingham with 50 not out and L Green the pick of the Galleywood bowlers with 2-13 from his 3 overs.
Congratulations to Tillingham who won by 7 wickets, a great day was had by all.
